July 13: hiking above Bridal Veil Falls, Telluride

I hiked above Bridal Veil falls, into a hail and rainstorm with Ted, Fletcher, Tricia, Gavin, Jodi, Rich, Paul and Lauren.

The D'Arms went bicycling. Some other people did bungie-trampolining at Mountain Village. Sam and John Henry played disc golf. That night, we did the pinata and a Geeblet talent show.

weather looked great on the way up...

great views in all directions

the wildflowers were spectacular

we saw many runners on coming down the trail, on their first leg of a 100-mile race

Ted and Jodi reach the saddle

it started hailing in the saddle. Some people had rain gear, some did not

the hail - it hurt a bit when it hit my arms

hail on the ground

Lauren was looking forward to that jelly donut for a long time - she was a great sport throughout the hike, even in the hail and torrential downpour

looking up the Telluride valley as the storm was clearing - from the  road where it closed, above Bridal Veil Falls

Rich, Jodi and Ted returning from their extended trip. The rest of us waited, huddling in Paul's SUV, blasting the heat.

Telluride right after the rain - those clouds are resting in the area we hiked through
The brown paper bag and tape pinata was the toughest one yet. But the garage had to be our least scenic location for this event...

Lauren swings like a real baseball slugger

Josh got in a satisfying blow in the non-blindfold round

Talent show time! Shout out to CC for organizing this at the last minute...

Katrina: Heavy Lifting
eventually Katrina lifted Justin, then Ted

Lily and CC: Who's on First - this was brilliant, alas the movie came out very dark.
Helen, Mia, Ashley and Lauren: Jingle Bells - here's a 12 second snippet

Katrina, Josh and Akivia: Dennis the Constitutional Peasant
Sam and Josh: Losing my Religion, plus backup dancing - yes, the whole thing
