Fountain just inside Siena from Porta Pispina
Thu Jul 24 - Siena.

Ted and I walked south of Siena on the via Francigena. Then we turned it into a loop by going down one side of the valley and back up the other into Porta Prissipi (?)
(out the SE gate, in the E gate)
We walked to the Campo
boys walked into Siena and met up with us
We all ate pizza again at the Campo
Josh and Ted walked home
Rachel and Sam shopped and walked home in the pouring rain
Rachel, Ted and Sam ate at our favorite little Sienese restaurant again. Mushroom specialists. But the truly amazing dishes was the peppers.
Bought some pizza for Josh and carried it home

Ramps or stairs? Sort of the worst of both worlds.

We walked out the Porta Romana

Pizza again on the Campo, after Josh and Sam walked in and met up with me and Ted

The Contradas - I'll do a whole post about them

The Duomo in Siena. Before the Black Death hit, they had laid the foundation for an even larger Duomo, which would be bigger than the one in Florence, showing their superiority over their rival. It was never built. The Black Death killed 70,000 if the 100,000 Sienese, knocking the city into obscurity for 600 years.

It poured on me and Sam as we walked back from Siena after shopping

Rainbow over Siena, as seen from our room in the Hotel Garden

We ate dinner for the second time at our favorite restaurant in Siena

We ordered this wine again. Delicious.
